Bashir Ibrahim, the State Commander of the agency, shared this information during a meeting with sports reporters at his office in Ilorin, the capital city of the state.

The decision to focus on sporting events stems from the recent challenges faced in tackling drug traffickers in the region.

Ibrahim highlighted that young people are increasingly glamorizing the illicit use of drugs, which is further exacerbated by adults and coaches who sell drugs to athletes under their care.

He also expressed concern about the rising prevalence of synthetic cannabis, a modified form of Indian hemp, among drug abusers in the state.
