According to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), enhancing operational plan management is essential for sustained performance.

At a one-day seminar in Katsina on Tuesday, Mohammed Umar, the NCS Comptroller for the Katsina Area Command, makes this statement.

In collaboration with the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria, or ISMN, the NCS organised the event.

The comptroller stated that strategic management is essential to the successful and long-term operation of any organisation.

Strategic management, according to him, is the deliberate mapping out of an organization’s objectives, including its vision, mission, and fundamental values.

These foundational ideas act as a compass, pointing us in the direction of our ultimate goals.

“I have a keen understanding of the critical role that strategic management, whether in the public or private sector, plays in the longevity and success of any organisation.

Strategic management is the process of assessing our surroundings, spotting possibilities, and reducing risks.

Therefore, he stated, “it is critical to be able to adapt to new challenges and leverage emerging opportunities in a constantly changing world.”

Umar made the point that the NCS had to be agile and adaptive in their strategy planning because they operated in a dynamic international commerce environment.

The ISMN President, Alex Ndudi, made the following statement through the Registrar, Obitunde Obiyemi: “In the current dynamic and fast-paced global environment, the importance of strategic management has never been greater.”

He expressed the hope that the knowledge imparted at the conference will inspire attendees and provide them the tools they need to sharpen their strategic thinking.
