Kogi, Bauchi, and Oyo have been identified as the three most expensive states in Nigeria when considering year-on-year basis due to their high All Items Inflation rates, as per the National Bureau of Statistics’s latest April consumer price index and inflation report.
Specifically, Kogi state has an inflation rate of 40.84 per cent for all items, followed by Bauchi at 39.91 per cent, and Oyo at 38.37 per cent.
However, when looking at a month-on-month basis, Lagos, Ondo, and Edo emerge as the most expensive states in Nigeria, with Lagos experiencing a 4.52 per cent increase, Ondo at 3.35 per cent, and Edo at 3.27 per cent in April 2024.
On the other hand, Borno, Benue, and Taraba recorded the slowest rise in Headline inflation on a Year-on-Year basis, with rates of 26.09 per cent, 27.53 per cent, and 28.69 per cent, respectively.
Additionally, Kano, Ebonyi, and Adamawa had the slowest rise in Month-on-Month inflation, with rates of 0.30 per cent, 0.97 per cent, and 1.25 per cent, respectively.
Headline and food inflation in April were reported to have surged to 33.69 per cent and 40.53 per cent, respectively, according to Obasanjonews.com.
