A speedboat, ten illicit refinery sites, and a total of 100,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil have been destroyed in the Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state by the Nigerian Navy via its Forward Operating Base in Brass.
On Thursday, June 27, during the destruction, Capt. Ifeanyichukwu Mabeokwu, the Commanding Officer of Forward Operating Base (FORMOSO), disclosed this to reporters.
“My team and I are here to carry out deactivation operation in these illegal refining sites,” stated Mabeokwu, in reference to the Nigerian Navy’s goal of destroying illicit refining sites and fuel theft in the Niger Delta.
As you can see, there is a sizable one with more than ten refining units. Combined, it has 100,000 stolen crude oil and approximately 800,000 litres of illicitly refined AGO.
“Basically, the illicit refining plant is tucked away in the middle of Nembe Creek, and we had to use high-resolution drones to find it.

Since it has now been found, we will stop at nothing to ensure that this doesn’t exist and doesn’t happen again.
“The discovery was made between 0630 and 700 hours this morning.”According to the commanding officer, all of the ovens were still in use when they arrived, meaning they had been using them all morning before they left.
“I think they left the area when we got here because no one was around to see them,” the person said, referring to the sound of our gunboats.
Under the command of Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), he claims, the Nigeran Navy is dedicated to preserving the safety and security of the Nigerian maritime domain.
According to Mabeokwu, the Navy will keep fostering an atmosphere that allows lawful companies to grow and advance the country’s economy.
He issued a warning to anyone involved in oil theft or other illicit acts to stop as the Nigerian Navy will not permit them to live in peace.
