The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of the national grid following a brief disturbance. The company assures citizens that power supply is back to normal.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria announced that the national grid has been restored following a temporary disturbance at around 8:15 a.m. on Saturday.

The General Manager for Public Affairs at TCN, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, revealed this information in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.

Mbah mentioned that the TCN engineers at Jebba effectively conducted switching operations by isolating the malfunctioning current transformer.

She mentioned that the engineers had reconfigured the busbar arrangement, thereby restoring power to both the station and other parts of the grid.

Mbah stated that, based on information from the National Control Centre, the bus component of a current transformer exploded at the 330kV Jebba Transmission Substation.

As anticipated, the protection system was triggered and swiftly opened the busbars to contain the explosion, effectively preventing a fire outbreak and additional damage to nearby equipment.

“The operation of the protection system caused a temporary disruption in the grid,” she explained.
