The Nigerian Senate has approved Nyesom Wike, the immediate former governor of Rivers State, for a cabinet position.
Wike claimed that his love for the country drove him to accept the cabinet position.
“I accepted the offer to serve as a minister because of my passion to serve Nigeria,” he added.
During the screening, River State legislator Barinada Mpigi (PDP, Rivers Southeast) bolstered his position.
“His Excellency former Governor Nyesom Wike is our best in Rivers State,” Mpigi stated. He is both our leader and our role model.
“Distinguished senators, we believe you should allow him to simply take a bow and leave.
“His resume is insufficient to enumerate the works that he has done.”
Following that, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Wike to take a bow and go.
