NASS, not Tinubu, made adjustments to 2024 budget- Senator Orji Uzor Kalu

According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the National Assembly was the one who suddenly increased the 2024 budget.

Speaking to reporters soon after the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi State Chairman Stanley Okoro Emegha’s Thanksgiving event at Edda, Kalu disclosed this information.

He remarked that the development should not be attributed to President Bola Tinubu.

“I can assure you that the National Assembly, of which I am a ranking member of the Appropriations Committee, was the ones who abruptly increased the budget to N28.2 trillion, not the President.

“The government has spent billions of naira on the census, which we wish to conduct, but it was not included in the budget.

The budget increased because they presented updated data from the National Population Commission and other pertinent organisations.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was ignorant of the matter. Therefore, it wasn’t from the President because we have been working on the budget. I will tell you that the President is to blame if that is the case. One of the reasons the budget got jacked up is what I just told you.
