Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue State, has officially conceded defeat in the February 25 Benue North West Senate election.
On May 29, when his second term as president is due to end, Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, ran for and lost the Senate seat to the All Progressives Congress, or APC, according to Obasanjonews24.
Titus Zam of the APC won with 143,151 votes, followed by Mark Gbillah of the Labour Party, LP, who received 51,950 votes. Ortom received 106,882 votes.
After rejecting the results, the governor accused INEC employees of anomalies and claimed that the election was systematically manipulated.

Attempting to get Zam’s win overturned, Ortom and the PDP filed an appeal with the electoral tribunal.
Announcing his decision to drop the prosecution, the governor said he did so on Tuesday in Makurdi in an effort to preserve the state’s current calm.
Notwithstanding obvious evidence of irregularities, such as the failure to electronically transmit the results of the Benue North West Senate election, he said, “I have decided to withdraw my petition from the tribunal.”
A man can get nothing until it is given to him directly from heaven, according to John 3:27 of the Bible.
“Let me emphasise that the decision to withdraw my complaint from the court is in the interest of peace and without prejudice to the claims brought by other candidates of our party, the PDP,”
