NNPCLimited will drill the first oil well in Nasarawa State in March 2023, according to Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari.

Kyari made this remark on Friday, when a delegation from the state, under the direction of Governor Abdullahi Sule, paid him a visit in Abuja.

In a statement, the company said that drilling the oil well is part of its efforts to look for oil in the inland basins of the country.

He said that explorations have shown that the state has a lot of hydrocarbon resources and that oil drilling would make Nasarawa one of the oil-producing states in the country.

As a result of the global energy shift, less money is being put into fossil fuels, so he pushed for the project to be done quickly.

According to a quote from Kyari, “This work must be done very quickly because the world is moving away from fossil fuels due to the energy transition.” The sooner you can get your product to market, the better.Otherwise, in ten years, no one will agree to put money into the petroleum business unless it comes from your cash flow.

In order to avoid the Niger Delta’s problems, he continued, community support and a favourable climate are essential for a successful operation in the area.

Governor Sule responded by congratulating the GCEO on the successful start of oil production and the President Muhammadu Buhari-started Kolmani Integrated Development Project, which he claimed was comparable to what was happening in Saudi Arabia.

He said, “For people who don’t know what you have done for Nigeria, you have written your name in gold.” I want to congratulate you, the management of NNPC, and the federal government for what you have done at Kolmani.

Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, and HRH Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, the emir of Lafia.
