The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Nasarawa State has disassociated itself from former Information Minister Labaran Maku in relation to rumours that he went to celebrate Governor AA Sule’s victory at the Appeal Court with National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.
It was said that Maku travelled to Ganduje with Mike Omeri, a former director general of NOA, to commemorate Governor Sule’s Court of Appeal victory.
The party’s state chapter responded by claiming that Maku and Omeri had never taken part in such an occasion.

Omeri, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity for the Governorship Campaign Council, referred to the stories as the creation of pranksters in a statement.
“The Nasarawa State PDP Governorship Campaign Council has been alerted to an online report published by the Punch Newspaper suggesting that the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was visited by Governor AA Sule to celebrate his victory at the Court of Appeal, which overturned the Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to remove him from office. The report also mentions the Director General of the Council, Labaran Maku (CON), a former Minister of Information, and the Director of Media and Publicity, Mike Omeri (OFR), a former Director General of NOA.
“We would like to vehemently deny and disprove the cunning media report as an unfounded allegation, as neither our Director General nor the Director of Media and Publicity have taken part in any such event or undertaken any actions that would support the false narrative that the Punch has been spreading.
“Let us reiterate that we are unwavering in our resolve to uphold the electoral mandate of our governorship candidate, Dr. David Ombugadu, as previously declared by PDP State Chairman, Mr. Francis Emokela Orogu. The party intends to pursue legal action at the Supreme Court to correct the incorrect ruling rendered by the Court of Appeal.”
since a result, we implore the public and media outlets to use caution and confirm material before sharing it, since the propagation of false information threatens democracy and may have negative repercussions for both individuals and our political party.
Based on the aforementioned, we require that the Punch Newspaper promptly retract the erroneous claim and offer an unconditional apology; failing which, they should be ready to face us in court.
“The values of justice, fairness, and the welfare of the Nasarawa people continue to guide our struggle. We demand that all parties involved, including the media, adhere to the strictest guidelines for reporting accuracy and journalistic integrity.
