Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule approved 5% of the state’s employment positions for people with disabilities (PWDs).
This is stated in a statement made by Ms. Abigail Waya, Head of Civil Service (HoCS), on Wednesday in the state.
Waya claims that in order to uphold the Sule-led administration’s commitment to ensuring equitable opportunity for all state residents, the approval was made necessary.
According to the HoCS, the governor has already instructed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to set aside 5% of every hiring process going forward for people with disabilities.
However, she stated that the PWDs must possess the academic credentials required for the open positions.
“This directive complies with the state’s domesticated Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Act, which was signed in 2018.
Its goal is to guarantee that people with disabilities have fair access to government jobs.
As a result, Waya said, “I am pleased to convey the governor’s directive to MDAs who are expected to implement it with utmost dedication and commitment.”
