Naira Scarcity: Minister refutes allegations of stifling Nigerians, asserts innocence
The current scarcity of the Naira has prompted the Federal Government to issue an apology to Nigerians.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed this message during a media briefing in Abuja, where he highlighted the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Idris assured the public that the Central Bank of Nigeria is actively working to address the scarcity by making new notes available for circulation. He emphasized that the government is not intentionally restricting access to cash or attempting to deprive Nigerians of their currency, as was the case during the Emiefele era. Instead, the government aims to provide Nigerians with more money to spend.
The Tinubu administration remains optimistic that the necessary measures have been taken to ensure a prosperous year for Nigerians in 2024.
