Senator Shehu Sani, a former congressman and social critic from Nigeria, claimed that Godwin Emefiele, the CBN’s governor, will be powerless after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
After Buhari leaves power on May 29, Sani compared Emefiele’s situation to a “Zebra in the hands of Tigers”.
On Saturday, he posted a message on his verified Twitter account that included his remarks.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, and the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, fought against the central bank’s Naira redesign strategy.
When it declared the policy invalid on Friday, the Supreme Court put an end to the debate over the Naira redesign scheme.
Sani, however, was of the opinion that if the current president leaves office, Emefiele would not be shielded from those who opposed the programme.
He wrote, “Emefiele will be like Zebra in Tigers’ hands after Baba is gone.
