Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, a Nigerian rapper, has said that if the security services can ensure his safety, he will give himself in to be examined about claims that he was involved in the killing of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, there have been calls for Naira Marley to be looked into in connection with Mohbad’s death for reportedly funding hoodlums to intimidate and threaten the late musician after he controversially left his record company, Marlian Music, in 2022.

Naira Marley said he was willing to submit himself for investigation on the condition that his safety is ensured in an interview with Reno Omokri on Wednesday night.

He claimed that since August 31, 2023, he has been abroad and that he only learned of Mohbad’s passing through social media.

I left Nigeria on August 31st, the man declared. I’ve always lived with my family. One is that I haven’t visited Nigeria since that time.

“Two, Since then, Mohbad has left Marlian Music. I’m not sure of the exact date, but he’s been gone from Marlian Music since 2022. He continues to release music despite our efforts to stop him. Since then, he has been employed by a single PR agency, or something similar.

“As a result, I was shocked to learn of his passing. Additionally, I had left the nation. Therefore, I have an obligation to learn what was wrong with him in the same way that everyone else does. I’m currently researching what went wrong with him online. I am also aware of all the lies. But we must pay attention to this: who was he with? How was he killed?

“If you’re accusing me, tell me how I killed him. I had absolutely nothing to do with his death. When I learned that, I was deeply hurt. I had nothing to do with his passing at all.

“I am willing to return to Nigeria to answer questions, if the police can ensure my safety,” Naira Marley continued.

I’m not a member of any cult. I have no idea what a cult is. I have been eluding all of these individuals by running. I truly oppose cults.

The death of Mohbad is the subject of an inquiry by the police.

The Department of State Services has also been requested to participate in the probe, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
