El-Rufai claims that there is a plan to secure an interim administration during the naira crisis.
The governor of Kaduna, Nasir el-Rufai, has claimed that the lack of naira notes and the high price of gasoline are results of a scheme to sabotage the polls and install an interim administration.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu is currently short on cash, according to el-Rufai, who claimed in a state broadcast on Thursday that this is a deliberate strategy to guarantee that Tinubu loses the presidency.
Contrary to public statements and seeming good intentions, this strategy was created and sold to the President by officials who were wholly defeated in the APC’s gubernatorial and presidential primaries in June 2022, el-Rufai stated. This is vital for the people of Kaduna State and indeed Nigeria.
“This currency redesign policy was created to ensure that the APC presidential candidate is deprived of what they said is a massive war chest once Asiwaju Bola Tinubu emerged as the candidate in June 2022 and afterwards did not choose one of them as his running mate.

“They also attempted to fulfil one or more of the following goals: Incite people to vote against all APC candidates by inducing a national cash shortage, which will cause the Party to suffer crushing defeats in all elections;
“Make sure that the financial crisis is so severe, along with the fabricated and ongoing fuel scarcity that has existed since September 2022, that the 2023 Elections do not take place, resulting in an interim national government to be led by a retired army commander;
“Maintain the situation where there is a scarcity of food, fuel, and other needs, which results in widespread demonstrations, violence, and a breakdown of law and order, which would be a good environment for a military takeover.”
