Mr. Auwal Dankode, a staff member of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc, was rewarded for his honesty after he discovered and returned $10,000 during an aircraft cleaning at Kano.
Dankode, who hails from Kano, was received at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport headquarters of the company on Saturday based on a statement that cited his transparent nature and high ethical standards.
Last Wednesday, Dankode and his colleagues were tasked with cleaning Egypt Air’s MS 878 passenger aircraft at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA). It was during this task that Dankode discovered money left behind by a previous passenger on seat No. 25H.
According to a statement from the company, Mr. Indranil Gupta, NAHCO’s Group Managing Director/CEO praised Dankode for exemplifying what it means to be a true ambassador of the organization by applying his training effectively. Dankode was also urged to stay on the right track by Mr. Didier Steullet, the COO.
According to Steullet, “Your accomplishments are impressive. You’re not only an exemplary figure for this week but likely for the entire year as well. My only suggestion is that you continue on your current path and stay true to yourself while avoiding getting caught up in the praise that you might receive on social media. It’s imperative that you maintain a humble attitude and strive towards making a positive impact in society- keep practicing kindness, and good things will come your way.”
Dr. Sola Obabori, Group Executive Director expressed his admiration for the individual saying “Your noteworthy act has turned you into a symbol of NAHCO not just in Nigeria but globally due to the internet’s pervasive reach. By returning so many dollars in today’s high-value currency country, you’ve done something exceptional that makes us proud. Your ability to identify value and forsake it reveals your purity of heart as an admirable quality deserving recognition from well-meaning Nigerians.”
Dankode, functioning as a brand representative, would attend all of NAHCO’s prominent events throughout the nation to promote and elevate their brand. This role provides Dankode with opportunities to travel extensively and engage in discourse with leading company officials and stakeholders.
