“A weapons vehicle containing eight terrorists unexpectedly arrived as we were assaulting the jungle cover and sped off to avoid the attack. The terrorists were then destroyed by engaging and destroying the gun truck.
According to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), when its operators blasted the criminals’ camp in the Matre area of Borno State, terrorists were killed and their gun truck was destroyed.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, a spokesman for the NAF, stated this in a statement.
“In furtherance of the sustained onslaught against the remnant of terrorists in the Northeast, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft under Operation Hakin Kai, while on an armed reconnaissance mission, took out a gun truck with about eight terrorists at Baranga Village in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, earlier today, September 20, 2013,” he said in the statement released on Wednesday.
“The opportunity strike came unexpectedly when two armed terrorists riding a motorbike down a busy track were being pursued. The attackers hid themselves beneath a dense canopy of forest after spotting the aircraft.
“A weapons vehicle containing eight terrorists unexpectedly arrived as we were assaulting the jungle cover and sped off to avoid the attack. The terrorists were then killed by engaging and destroying the gun truck.
To avoid being discovered by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security services, “remaining terrorists in the Northeast continue to seek the cover of thick forests and vegetation.”
The NAF said the most recent triumph is proof of its dedication to combating terrorism while assuring Nigerians of its continuous effort to ferret out offenders.
This incident is yet another demonstration of the AFN’s dedication to making it harder for terrorists to attack law-abiding Nigerians at random, he continued.
