NAF Airstrike Kills 32 ISWAP Fighters in Dogon Chikun After Internal Clash

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducts a successful airstrike in Dogon Chikun, eliminating 32 ISWAP fighters following a factional clash within the group.

On December 25, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out a precision airstrike on Dogon Chikun in Borno State, targeting a staging area utilized by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Following infighting among ISWAP factions, the strike resulted in the deaths of at least 32 fighters, as verified by reliable sources who evaluated the aftermath of the operation.

Intelligence reports provided to security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed that the airstrike targeted a site where ISWAP fighters had gathered following a clash with an opposing faction.

Besides the significant loss of life, numerous weapons and crucial insurgent equipment were also destroyed in the attack.

“The source disclosed that the operation was strategically planned and carried out to dismantle the group’s staging area and weaken their ability to launch future attacks.”

To strengthen its fight against ISWAP and Boko Haram, the Nigerian military’s counterinsurgency initiative in the Northeast, known as Operation Hadin Kai, has ramped up attacks on major insurgent hideouts and logistical centers.

Dogon Chikun, a vital region for ISWAP activities, has been closely monitored because of its strategic importance.
