My liver and kidneys went down after I was poisoned in the PDP Secretariat – Wike
On Sunday, former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike said that in 2018, he had been poisoned at the PDP secretariat.
Wike claimed that the poison harmed his liver and kidneys and that it nearly resulted in his death if it weren’t for God’s intervention.
During a special Thanksgiving service hosted by his family in the St. Peters Deanery in the Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor region of the state, he revealed this.
The former governor claimed that after being taken to Beirut at midnight, physicians there told him that his liver and kidneys had failed.
Wike claims that after treating him, the physicians told him that his organs were once again functioning.
He claimed that after about a week, the physicians released him and asked him to go home, adding that he had changed his plans while running for reelection.
The former governor claimed that once he made the decision to avoid visiting any party leaders’ homes while running for office, everyone started to seem suspicious.
When describing his near-death experience from food poisoning, Wike said: “God was in charge, and everyone who knows how we came to power in 2015 knew it was chaotic.
However, God delivered us. Many people assume you are doing well with you when you are in office. Nobody is interested in learning about your human struggles.
“In December 2018, it was my former chief of staff’s Thanksgiving holiday. That Thanksgiving, I was expected to go. I never left my room again after that Sunday. That was horrible.
“However, those who were there at the state dinner on January 1 of 2019 will recall that I remained silent that day. I told the deputy governor to speak on my behalf as I just sat there. I believed it was over.
“I didn’t know I had been poisoned at our party secretariat; the doctors came back and said my organs had resumed functioning.”
