My husband rented a home for a different woman using loan he obtained in my name, policewoman testifies in court
Due to claims of fraud and domestic violence, Angela Adams, a female police officer, has filed for divorce with a Jikwoyi, FCT, customary court.
On Tuesday, October 17, she testified in court, saying she had no idea her spouse, a police officer, had two kids before she agreed to get married to him.
The mother of one further informed the court that he obtained a N750,000 loan from a microfinance bank in her name without her consent and lied about using it to pay for building supplies while renting an apartment for his side business.
“When I questioned him about his use of the funds, he claimed that he purchased wood and zinc; nevertheless, I later learned that he had actually rented and furnished a flat for a woman.
He misled me into marrying him because I was unaware that he already had two children and had recently been pregnant with another, according to Angela.
Angela asked the court to allow her request for a divorce on the grounds that her husband hits her whenever he gets the chance.
Every time we have a minor argument, my husband always beats me, she remarked. He abuses me in a childlike way. His gaze is always on mine. He punched me in the face the final time he beat me; fortunately for me, I was able to stop it with my palm, but the blow tore my hand.
Before my husband murders me and my child is left without a carer, she pleaded with the court to grant her custody of the couple’s sole child and break the marriage.
The respondent, Titus, was not in court to plead his case.
Judge Thelma Baba mandated that he receive a hearing notice via his attorney. The hearing was moved to October 24, 2023 by her.
