My depression leads me to drink, but I avoid using hard drugs- Hanks Anuku [Video]

A veteran of Nollywood cinema, Hanks Anuku has spoken up about his struggles with depression.

Concerns regarding Anuku’s appearance and wellbeing had been raised by reports and video clips of him that had appeared in the media.

But in a widely shared video on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the actor opened out about his financial struggles, saying, “Yes, depression makes me drink, but I never take hard drugs, I don’t take hard drugs at all.”

“After coming out of depression, I spent years without a job. Among other things, I was worrying about my kids’ wellbeing and school expenses, and you know what happens when it gets to that point.

The 63-year-old stated, “I call it a breaking point; I was broken to pieces and I had to go drinking and that’s it.”
