Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has provided insight into the process of selecting players for the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast. In an interview with NFF TV, Peseiro explained that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) decided on a squad of 25 players, which he agreed with as it would be easier to manage.
The initial pool of players consisted of 41 individuals, and the final selection was based on their performance and current form.
Peseiro acknowledged that some players excelled at the club level but struggled in the national team, while others performed well for the national team but faced challenges in their clubs.
Despite the difficulty in making the final decision, Peseiro expressed his hope and prayers that the chosen players would perform well in the competition. Additionally, Peseiro highlighted the inclusion of Stanley Nwabili, a goalkeeper from Chippa United, who impressed him during his observations and discussions with the player and his coach.
