Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, said that what he had done in less than a year as governor was enough to make sure that candidates for the House of Assembly running on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would win.
Speaking via his press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo claimed that state Labour Party officials are uneasy because they are aware that Anambra is still APGA territory and that they have no chance of gaining any seats on Saturday.
In a conversation with the media, Aburime stated: “Apart from the fact that Anambra is still an APGA state, it will be unjust for any Anambra native to witness what the governor has done right and yet choose to vote against APGA on Saturday.
“The governor will complete one year in office on Friday, but you’d swear he’s been in charge for four. He has hired 5,000 instructors for our schools in the past year, which has never occurred before anywhere else.
“Most hospitals in the state lacked doctors before the governor took office, but he has hired several medical professionals, including nurses and other caretakers, and he has also started numerous road improvements around the state.”
“We are certain that we will secure a majority of seats in the state legislature on Saturday. No Anambra native who cares about the state will consent to another party taking control of the house of assembly. This will divert attention from the governor’s developmental initiatives, according to Aburime.

Commenting on the claim that Soludo threatened to blacklist traditional leaders and presidents-general of communities if they did not fight for APGA victory, Aburime stated the claim was false.
“It is misinformation from the bottom of hell, used by the opposition to threaten the governor since they have no chance on Saturday,” he said.
“The governor called a public gathering with party members and urged everyone to secure APGA’s triumph on Saturday. What’s the deal with that? Threats are the only thing that exists; the governor’s comments were made in the open. So, they are unable to misinterpret the governor’s remarks by asserting things he never stated. So it is simply propaganda.
