At the age of 70, Tito Jackson, a celebrated member of the iconic group Jackson 5 and accomplished singer and guitarist, has died.
In a poignant Instagram post late Sunday, Taj, Taryll and TJ – the members of music trio 3T – announced with profound sadness that their father had passed away unexpectedly. The heartbreaking news left them shocked and grieving deeply.
According to a family friend named Steve Manning, Tito – the elder brother of pop sensations Michael and Janet Jackson – is said to have experienced a heart attack while driving from New Mexico back home in Oklahoma.
Even though the situation was heartbreaking, his sons honored their father’s memory by portraying him as a compassionate and remarkable individual. They implored others to adopt their dad’s longstanding belief in “Love One Another.”

Recently, Tito had been engaged in lively performances and traveling with his siblings Marlon and Jackie on their tour called “The Jacksons”. They’ve held concerts in California, England, as well as Germany.
Tito played an instrumental role in the Jackson 5’s success as he joined forces with his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. Together, they took the music world by storm when they signed up with Motown Records back in ’69. The timeless hits like “I Want You Back,” “ABC” and “I’ll Be There” that followed soon after became iconic symbols of late-60s/early-70s musical culture.
In 1997, Tito and his Jackson 5 siblings were welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Diana Ross, a renowned figure in Motown.
Tito left his imprint in the genres of blues and funk during his solo journey. His track “Get It Baby” topped Billboard charts in 2016, marking him as the final Jackson sibling to experience individual triumph on music charts.
Collaborating with music icons such as George Benson, Bobby Rush, and Stevie Wonder, his album Under Your Spell (2021) was a notable achievement.
