Bright Okpocha, or Basketmouth, a well-known comedian and music executive, has lamented the growing cost of making music videos in Nigeria.
In his opinion, the industry typical fee has increased from 7 to 7.5 million Naira to 27 to 30 million Naira.
The comedic actor claimed that the price increase was the reason he chose to shoot a holdup video for the lead single from his next album, “Uburu,” called “Party,” as opposed to spending more than N25 million to do so.

In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Basketmouth stated.
The video we have for my song ‘Party’ with Peruzzi is not an official video, the singer declared. I had no idea that the economy had hit us so hard; it’s just like a holdup. I used to produce videos for 7–7.5 million Naira two years ago. It is now between 27 and 30 million Naira.
“Since I’m an Igbo man, my first thought was, ‘Okay Bright, if you’re spending N25m on visuals, it’s for an uptick, right?'” Make a holdup video and something else for an upswing after that.
