Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, nicknamed Phyno, a Nigerian rapper and singer, has recalled how, when he was a struggling musician, people suggested him to join a cult or partake in rituals if he wanted overnight fame.
While giving advice to aspiring musicians about finding shortcuts to success, Phyno reflected on his own journey and emphasised that hard work, persistence, and perseverance were what got him this far.
“I have tunes that nobody knew existed before many people heard of Phyno.
“A handful of pals advised me to blow, insisting that I join a cult or make a sacrifice of some sort. I rejected their advice, telling them the cost was too high. I would never act in such a way.
“I started little and today I thank God,” he added. “I believed in myself and the power of hard effort.
Young artists should embrace the mentality of perseverance and hard effort, rather than acting in a desperate manner, according to Phyno.
Keep working, you’ll shine when the time comes, the ‘Alobam’ singer advised them.
He cautioned upcoming artists against signing recording deals out of desperation and without carefully reviewing the terms, emphasising that they would later come to regret it.
