Muhammad Ali’s famous shorts from ‘Thrilla in Manila’ to be sold for $6 million at auction
The trunks worn by Muhammad Ali during his historic victory over Joe Frazier in the ‘Thrilla in Manila’ are set to be auctioned off by Sotheby’s and are expected to sell for over $6 million.
These iconic white satin shorts, which have already received a bid of $3.8 million, were previously sold for $150,000 in 2012 but are now estimated to fetch 40 times that amount.
The auction will take place at Sotheby’s New York branch until April 12th.
The ‘Thrilla in Manila’, held in October 1975, is widely regarded as one of the most significant boxing matches in history.

In addition to being signed by Ali, the Everlast trunks also bear the inscription of his corner man, Drew ‘Bundini’ Brown, who passed away in 1988.
Interestingly, these trunks were only sold for $1,000 after Brown’s death. Muhammad Ali, a legendary figure in the world of sports, died in 2016 at the age of 74 after battling Parkinson’s Disease, while Joe Frazier passed away in 2011 at the age of 67.
