Since late Saturday, telecommunication firms have carried out a broad disconnection that has affected numerous subscribers, including those of the 9mobile network who have been incapable of making or receiving calls ever since.
The planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 aligns with the timing of this restriction.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has instructed telecom operators to disconnect phone lines of subscribers who have not linked their NINs by the July 31 deadline. The initial date for this requirement was April 15,2024 but was later extended.
Despite successfully linking their SIMs with their NINs, numerous subscribers are alleging that they have been barred. In February, the NCC declared that 45 million users who did not finish the linkage process would be disconnected.
