The Ferguson family has reported that Lady Cathy Ferguson, who was married to the legendary Manchester United manager for 57 years, passed away tragically at the age of 84.

Lady Cathy Ferguson, the 84-year-old wife of the late Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United, has passed away.

In a statement made on Friday afternoon, the Ferguson family acknowledged the information.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson, who is survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild,” the statement said. The family requests discretion at this time.

Cathy and Sir Alex were married since 1966; they first connected when both employed at a typewriter manufacturer.

Ferguson remarked, “My wife Cathy has been the key figure throughout my career, providing a bedrock of both stability and encouragement,” when he announced his resignation as manager of United in 2013 following an unprecedented run of success for the Red Devils. Words cannot fully explain how much this means to me.
