The story was detailed by Mubarak Akadiri, the youngster who killed Mrs. Sidikat Adamolekun, a 62-year-old former head teacher, after taking her phone, which was worth N66,000.
Speaking at his arraignment before a magistrate court in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Mubarak, 18, is also the victim’s housemaid’s son.

He claimed that when the deceased saw him snatching her phone, he struck her in the head many times with a wooden stool.
“As usual, I went to the house to work, and then I returned to take her Samsung phone,” he stated. But after I took the phone, she caught me. She then held me. I whacked her head with a wooden stool in an attempt to get away, but the elderly woman kept yelling for assistance. I continued to strike her on the head after that till she collapsed and passed away.
In the meantime, the court was instructed by police prosecutor Simon Wada to confine the accused at Olokuta Correctional Centre until the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) provided guidance.
In order to await the conclusion of the DPP’s advice, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni remanded Akadiri to the Olokuta Correctional Centre. The case was postponed until March 15, 2024, for mention.
