Actress Ayo Mogaji advises women over 35 to prioritize becoming mothers rather than waiting for marriage, highlighting the importance of self-fulfillment. Discover her perspective.

Veteran Nigerian actress Binta Ayo Mogaji has encouraged women over the age of 35 to consider having children even if they are not married.

The actress, who is 60 years old, mentioned this in an interview on Oyinmomo TV.

Expressing her views on marriage, motherhood, and societal pressures, the actress—who welcomed her first child at age 40—inspired single women over 35 to consider having children outside of marriage if they wish to embrace motherhood.

Magaji further stressed the importance of women prioritizing motherhood above societal expectations.

Essentially, if you’re 35 or older and single but have someone in your life who desires a child without being ready for marriage, consider having a child with him—even if he isn’t prepared to take on the responsibilities of parenthood.

“When she seeks a husband at 35, people may claim she’s too old to manage household duties like washing clothes for her mother-in-law or be receptive to guidance. The man might be encouraged to choose a younger woman who will heed him.”

And if she is lucky enough to get married, her child may be grown by the time she’s older. While some people become grandmothers at 45 or 50, you’re still searching for a husband. When will you find one and have grandchildren of your own?

Here’s a revised version: “My advice is, if you’re fortunate enough to be with someone who cares for you and you’d like to have children together, pursue it—provided that you want a child and can provide proper care. However, if finding the right partner isn’t possible at this time, consider adoption as an option.”
