Tragedy struck in Osun State as a fatal road crash claimed the lives of a mother, her two children, and another individual.
The incident occurred in Ode-Omu town, specifically in the Ayedaade local government area of the state on a Saturday morning.
Reports indicate that the victims, along with the rider, were traveling on a motorcycle when a car, en route to Ibadan from the Osogbo end of the road, collided with them at approximately 6 am.
The vehicle involved in the accident was reportedly carrying students from the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The victims were on their way to Oogi, a nearby community, when the car lost control near Obada market and crashed into the motorcycle.

The impact of the collision resulted in the tragic loss of lives.
The news of the victims’ deaths incited anger among the locals, leading to an enraged mob descending upon the occupants of the car.
Two individuals were apprehended by the mob, while one managed to escape the scene.
The community was devastated by the incident, and eyewitnesses described the car as traveling at high speed before colliding with the victims, who were returning from a vigil.
Tope Abiola, the Dean of Students Affairs at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, urged for calm in the wake of the incident. Abiola revealed that the individuals attacked by the angry mob were students of the institution.
The Osun State Police Command has also confirmed the occurrence of the accident.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, the accident was a result of the vehicle losing control after hitting a bump on the road.
The car collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of four individuals. The vehicle, registered with the number BDG 481JD (Lagos), caught fire after the mob set it ablaze.
The driver managed to escape immediately after the accident, while the remaining two occupants were rescued by the police and taken to a hospital in Osogbo for treatment.
The situation has since been brought under control, and peace has been restored to the area.
