Moses Simon, a winger for the Super Eagles, was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in today’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal matchup against Angola.
Nigeria advanced to the competition’s semifinals after defeating Angola 1-0.
This evening at Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria defeated Palancas Negras thanks to a goal from the Nante of France winger, who also set up Ademola Lookman for the game’s lone goal.
For the second time throughout the competition, Simon took home the prize. Against Guinea-Bissau in the last group match, he first took home the trophy.
After the match, Simon told reporters that Nigeria’s triumph over Angola was more significant than any one player’s accolades.
Moses remarked, “I’m glad I won the award again, but I want to emphasise that the most important thing is the win against Angola today.”
