The mayor of Moscow and the Defence Ministry have reported that Ukrainian forces have launched a coordinated drone strike against the Russian city and many other places. According to the ministry and the official, at least 20 UAVs were intercepted early on Sunday over the districts of Tula, Bryansk, Kaluga, and Moscow.

Overnight, a significant drone attack was attempted. On Sunday morning, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram, “The air defence forces shot down UAVs in the area of Naro-Fominsk and Odintsovo city district, en route to Moscow.” It is said that another drone was shot down close to Podolsk.

According to Sobyanin, the emergency services were responding to the event and locating the debris, but there were no injuries or substantial damages inflicted by the drones in Moscow.

But according to local governor Aleksey Dyumin, a drone in Tula struck a residential highrise and mildly injured one person after becoming stuck and losing control.

At least 11 drones had been intercepted over four locations southwest of the Russian capital by 5am, the military reported, adding that another “attempted Ukrainian terrorist attack was thwarted” overnight. The military reported that nine more drones had been seized over the same areas two hours later.

Russia is threatened by a new drone “bombardment” from Ukraine.
In what Russian officials have called “terrorist attacks,” Kiev has frequently deployed drone strikes on civilian infrastructure, even reaching Moscow.

A Ukrainian officer in charge of UAV operations stated earlier this month that Kiev was preparing for a large drone bombing campaign against Russia this winter since severe weather is predicted to put an end to ground fighting.

Russia was accused by Ukraine on Saturday of conducting its largest drone strike to date, with the majority of the targets being in Kiev, the country’s capital. Over 70 Russian drones were allegedly intercepted overnight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Moscow has already charged Kiev with greatly inflating its achievements and asserting that it has destroyed more weapons than Russia actually shoots.
