Both parties have been pressed by Russia to maintain diplomatic relations, and Ukraine has declared its support for Israel.

The intensification of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian militant organisation Hamas has prompted reactions from Russia and Ukraine, which have been engaged in a protracted struggle for more than a year and a half.

Mikhail Bogdanov, the deputy foreign minister for Russia, called for all parties to the crisis to immediately halt hostilities on Saturday. The spokesperson for the foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, released a special statement on the subject and went on to further explain Russia’s position on the most recent escalation between Israel and Palestine.

Zakharova stated, “We call on the Palestinian and Israeli sides for an immediate ceasefire, renunciation of violence, exercising necessary restraint, and the launch, with the support of the international community, of a negotiation process aimed at establishing a comprehensive, lasting, and eagerly awaited peace in the Middle East.

The spokesperson highlighted that the increase in the area is yet another example of the “closed cycle of violence,” and she added that Russia holds the opinion that the 75-year-old conflict cannot be resolved militarily. According to Zakharova, the flare-up is the “result of a persistent failure to comply with relevant UN and Security Council resolutions” as well as an obstruction of the peace process by the West as a whole.

Kiev, meanwhile, declared its unwavering support for Israel while labelling Hamas “terrorists.”

Ukraine vehemently condemns the continued terrorist assaults against Israel, including the use of rockets to target civilians in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Ukrainian foreign minister sent a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “We express our support for Israel in its right to protect itself and its people.

Vladimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, strengthened this position by calling on the “whole world” to back Israel in its conflict with the Palestinians.

awful stories coming out of Israel. My sympathies go out to everyone whose loved ones perished in the terrorist assault… There can be no question about Israel’s right to self-defense, Zelensky said.

Early on Saturday, Hamas launched a significant offensive against Israel, storming border posts, firing rockets into southern Israel, and infiltrating numerous sites. Online videos reveal that Hamas militants invaded many Israeli military facilities, killing or capturing a sizable number of Israelis, including personnel and civilians.

According to the regional health authority, Israel’s huge airstrikes on Gaza in response have already resulted in more than 150 fatalities and close to 1,000 injuries. The military reserves in Israel have also been called into action, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming that the nation is now “at war.”
