Nine days after taking over as creative director of Moschino at the age of forty-six, Italian fashion designer David Renne passed away.
Although the cause of death is unknown, Moschino’s parent company Aeffe announced his death on Friday in Milan, referring to it as “a sudden illness.”
Before, Renne spent over 20 years as the head of Gucci’s womenswear department.
“There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time,” stated the chairman of Aeffe.

Prior to joining Gucci in 2004, he worked as an apprentice for Italian fashion designer and mentor Alessandro Dell’Acqua, having attended both the University of Florence and Polimoda fashion school.

His appointment as creative director of Moschino was revealed in October, and in February, he was scheduled to make his debut with the brand at Milan Fashion Week.
“Franco Moschino had a nickname for his design studio – la sala giochi, the playroom,” Renne stated at the time of his appointment.
