Morocco and East Africa are chosen by CAF as the 2025 and 2027 AFCON hosts

The 2025 AFCON will be held in Morocco, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), while the 2027 AFCON will be held in a joint bid by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Algeria, Zambia, and a joint bid from Nigeria and the Benin Republic withdrew before the election, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and Morocco ultimately received 22 votes to win the hosting rights.

The North Africans and the East Africans will host the 2025 and 2027 editions, respectively, the CAF Executive Committee declared following their voting on Wednesday at the Cairo Marriott Hotel in Egypt.

Nigeria and the Benin Republic’s joint bid to host the AFCON in 2025 or 2027 was rejected.

Nigeria hosted the event in 1980 and shared the hosting duties with Ghana in 2000.

After the second round of voting, CAF announced the joint candidature from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as the successful offer for the 2027 fiesta.

They prevailed in a vote of the CAF executive committee over Botswana, Egypt, and Senegal.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will be hosting the AFCON for the first time, while Morocco will host for the second time having doing so in 1988.(NAN)
