Alejandro Moreno, a former forward for the LA Galaxy, has questioned Romelu Lukaku’s choice to leave Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
Remember that Lukaku left Chelsea to sign a loan deal with AS Roma for the 2023–2024 campaign?
For his second tenure with Chelsea, the 30-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2021/22 from Inter Milan for £97.5 million.
But because Mauricio Pochettino did not consider the Belgian international in his plans for this season, everything has gone terribly wrong for him.
He was loaned to Roma to work with his former manager Jose Mourinho as a result.
However, Moreno believes Lukaku made a mistake by leaving Chelsea to sign with the Serie A team.
According to Moreno of ESPN FC (via Football365), “I just feel like his career could’ve been so much more, and we just find now reasons to talk about him because of failures, not because of achievements.”
“And whether he is the biggest loser in the transfer window or not, I don’t know, but what we do know is that he has not landed in the best spot, and again, this doesn’t make us think of him as trending in the right direction.”
