More than 4.6 million PVCs have been gathered for the upcoming rerun and by-elections
According to information obtained from a document posted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a total of 4,613,197 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) have been collected by voters in preparation for the upcoming rerun and by-elections on February 3.
The breakdown shows that 2,189,171 PVCs were collected for the by-elections, while 2,424,026 PVCs were collected for the rerun elections.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, over 8,500 Bimodal Voters Authentication System devices and more than 35,000 ad-hoc staff will be deployed.
The commission has also stated that 74 domestic observers and one international observer will be present during the elections.
The by-elections are scheduled to take place in two senatorial districts, three state constituencies, and four federal constituencies across different states.
The rerun elections, as mandated by the court, will occur in one senatorial district and 13 federal constituencies in various states. Additionally, rerun elections are also planned for several state constituencies in multiple states.
