Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno was appointed as Chief Whip by the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, replacing Ali Ndume.
During the plenary, Senator Godswill Akpabio read a letter of complaint from the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. As a result, there was a replacement made.
According to a letter signed by the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Surajudeen Bashir, who is the National Secretary of the Party, Ali Ndume in his role as Chief Whip has been making reckless statements that pose a threat to national security.

In the letter, he made reference to his media interview where he claimed that “President Bola Tinubu is collaborating with dishonest individuals and has also been confined in a way that prevents him from realizing Nigerians are experiencing hunger.”
Once Akpabio finished reading the letter, he proceeded to call for a voice vote on Monguno’s appointment as Chief Whip of the Senate.
