The Presidency stated that discussions over Nigeria’s membership in the G-20 are still ongoing.
According to his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu will go to New Delhi, India, on Monday to attend the G-20 Leaders’ Summit.

Ngelale said in a statement on Sunday that the President will leave Abuja for the meeting in India at the Indian Prime Minister’s personal request.
The President will take part in and provide keynote presentations at the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and the Nigeria-India Business Conference, respectively, on the sidelines of the Summit, the release said in part.
Leading businesspeople from the Indian and Nigerian private sectors, as well as senior government officials from both nations, are anticipated to attend the executive roundtable.
The President wants to use this platform to draw in international money and encourage more foreign direct investments in Nigeria’s core labor-intensive industries in order to increase employment and revenue.
Furthermore, he would take use of the occasion to emphasise Nigeria’s desirability as a location for investments, notably by articulating his cross-sectoral reform strategy as contained by the Renewed Hope Agenda, according to Ngelale.
The Nigerian leader is anticipated to present Nigeria’s viewpoint on the subject of the G20 Summit, “One Earth-One Family-One Future,” with a focus on the need for international cooperation to confront the challenges facing humanity and the planet.
“While it is ideal for Nigeria to be a member of the G-20, the government has started a wide-ranging consultation process to determine the advantages and hazards of membership.
“The government will determine whether or not to seek to join as necessary when discussions are complete. President Tinubu’s attendance at the G-20 Summit in India is a step in the right direction towards achieving this goal.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Doris Uzoka-Anite will accompany the President on their trip to India.
The statement concluded, “President Tinubu will return to Nigeria immediately following the Summit.”
