Monarchs’ Killing: Ekiti sees deployment of police helicopter and armoured carriers
In response to the tragic killings of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Nigeria Police Force has taken swift action by deploying helicopters and armored personnel carriers to the South-West state.
President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure that the culprits responsible for these heinous acts are apprehended and face the full force of the law. The two monarchs, Oba Olatunde Olusola and Oba David Ogunsola, were tragically killed while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti.
The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the President has directed the police boss to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Adejobi also assured the residents of Ekiti State that efforts are being made to rescue the kidnapped pupils and teachers in the Eporo-Ekiti area. During a visit to the Force Headquarters, the IGP expressed the unwavering commitment of the police to address this challenge, ensuring that the culprits are held accountable and the kidnapped individuals are safely rescued.
The IGP has ordered the deployment of additional resources, including helicopters, armored personnel carriers, IRT and STS operatives, and Police Mobile Force personnel, to support the ongoing operations in Ekiti.
