Gunmen whose identities remain unknown carried out a fatal attack on Thursday night, resulting in the death of Abdulmutalib Nuhu, a third-class chief in Sensani Village, located in the Gasol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred just hours before the commencement of the Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival, an event organized by the Taraba State Government in the Ibbi Local Government Area.
Ibbi happens to be the hometown of Hamisu Bala, also known as Wadume, a notorious gun runner who was recently released from prison, adding a layer of complexity to the situation.
The attackers reportedly arrived at Sensani village around 9 pm on Thursday and proceeded directly to the traditional ruler’s palace, situated a short distance from Ibbi where the festival was scheduled to take place.

According to a senior police officer familiar with the case, law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing leads to track down the perpetrators responsible for the heinous crime.
