Dele Momodu, a former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused Nyesom Wike of disloyalty to the party and its ideals.
Despite serving as the FCT Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Wike lacks the trust of the president’s camp. Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, supported Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election due to a disagreement with the PDP leadership over the party’s choice of Atiku Abubakar as its flagbearer.
Although Wike was later appointed FCT Minister, he has not officially left the PDP, and the party has yet to take any disciplinary action against him. However, Momodu, a publisher, criticized Wike for his actions and accused him of attempting to undermine and destroy the PDP. Momodu emphasized that Wike’s reputation for prioritizing personal interests and power is well-known among Nigerians.
Despite efforts to reconcile Wike and the PDP, the party’s loss in the presidential election in Rivers State to the APC was a consequence of the fallout between Wike and the party.
Momodu believes that Wike went too far in working against the PDP and expressed his desire for the party to take appropriate action against the minister to restore its integrity.
