On Friday, November 17, 2023, the Lagos State Police Command freed controversial musician Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and his companion Balogun Samson, also known as Sammy Larry, after they fulfilled their bail requirements.
In a succinct statement released on Friday, State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin announced that Naira Marley and Sammy Larry had been released after fulfilling their bond requirements.
Superintendent of Police Hundeyin said this on Friday afternoon following the completion of the bail requirements set down by a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court for the artist and socialite.

On Monday, November 6, the court released both of them on N20 million bail, with three responsible sureties.
The court decided that the defendants’ bail requirements included giving up their passports and showing up every week to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
Following the release of footage online depicting the late singer being assaulted, they were taken into custody as part of an inquiry into the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Mohbad passed away under dubious circumstances.
The singer had expressed his displeasure about being harassed by Marley’s previous record label, Marlian Music, prior to his passing.
On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Saturday Beats paid a visit to Panti, the location of their detention, after the day that Naira Marley was placed under arrest. The two appeared to be in bad spirits, despite calls from Nigerians for a comprehensive probe.
