Naira Marley and Sam Larry are seeking damages from the defendants in the amount of N20 million.
They want the court to rule that their rights were violated by their prolonged incarceration “at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State since October 4, 2023,” according to the lawsuit they filed through Mr. Olalekan Ojo (SAN).
“A court order releasing the applicants forthwith” is what they are requesting.
The deponents’ affidavits, which were attached to their claims, stated that their troubles began on October 3 and 4, 2023, when they were taken into custody by the police on suspicion that the applicants were connected to the killing of Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
“The Commissioner of Police requested a 30-day remand order in the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on October 4, 2023.
The police requested to be placed under remand for a maximum of 21 days, and Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granted their request.
“On October 26, 2023, the 21-day remand order issued by Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun expired, and the order has not been renewed.”
