The IRGC has declared that it launched ballistic missiles against an ISIS base in Syria and a Mossad stronghold in Iraq as a response to recent terrorist attacks in Iran.
The bombings in Kerman and Rask, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 people, were claimed by ISIS, while the suicide bombing in Rask was attributed to the Pakistani-based group Jaish Al-Adl.
The IRGC stated that they targeted gathering places of ISIS commanders and elements involved in recent terrorist operations in Syria, as well as an espionage headquarters of Mossad in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The group emphasized that their offensive operations will continue until they avenge the blood of their martyrs. Although the specific location of the strikes was not mentioned, reports suggest that the missiles hit the city of Erbil, where Iran had previously targeted alleged Israeli targets in retaliation for airstrikes in Syria.
Mistaken reports emerged suggesting that the Americans had been targeted when a suspected Mossad base near the US consulate in Erbil was discovered.
According to an Iraqi security source, four individuals lost their lives in Erbil, but no American troops were among the casualties. The source also revealed that a total of “eight locations” near the US consulate had been struck.
Iranian media shared various videos claiming to depict the launch of the missiles. Additionally, unverified accounts mentioned multiple explosions and gunfire in Erbil, potentially originating from air defenses attempting to intercept the incoming projectiles.
