Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina has withdrawn from the pageant, citing personal reasons for her decision.
Allegations regarding her nationality caused Chidimma Adetshina, a Miss South Africa pageant finalist, to withdraw from the competition.
The controversy around the eligibility of a 23-year-old model, born in Soweto to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother, had been making headlines.
An investigation into Adetshina’s nationality has been launched by the Department of Home Affairs on grounds that her mother may have committed fraud and identity theft in 2001.

Despite Adetshina being cleared of any misconduct, she declared her intention to back out from the competition on Thursday due to apprehensions for her family’s well-being.
Adetshina conveyed her appreciation towards the Miss South Africa organization and those who backed her in an Instagram statement. She expressed how thankful she was for the unforgettable experience, stating that it left a profound impact on her heart.
Along with this, she wished luck to all of her co-finalists by saying that whoever becomes their representative will carry out their legacy while wearing the precious crown.
Just before the Miss South Africa grand finale on August 10 in Pretoria, Adetshina has withdrawn. The crowned winner will represent South Africa at the Miss Universe competition held later this year in Mexico.
