Minister urges newly promoted Generals to meet his demands

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has urged recently promoted senior officers of the Nigerian Army (NA) to demonstrate exceptional leadership and increase their efforts in combating insecurity.

Matawalle emphasized the importance of such leadership in maintaining peace, particularly in the North West and other troubled regions of the country.

During the investiture ceremony at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja, the minister commended the officers’ bravery, commitment to duty, and hard work, stating that their promotion is a testament to their diligence, professionalism, and selfless sacrifices.

Matawalle stressed the need for the newly promoted officers to lead by example, motivate their subordinates, and collaborate with other security agencies to overcome the security challenges faced by the nation.

He acknowledged the rigorous selection process that highlighted their exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and extensive knowledge gained throughout their careers.

Matawalle expressed confidence in their continued service to the country and assured them of the Federal Government’s support and welfare interventions.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, also congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion and acknowledged the contributions of their spouses and families.
