The Minister calls for peace and cooperation among mining firms in Nasarawa. Discover the reasons behind this appeal.
Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has urged mining companies in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to maintain peaceful coexistence.
On Friday, a call was initiated following a meeting at the Government House in Lafia between Governor Abdullahi Sule and members of his cabinet with the Minister represented by Obadiah Nkom, Director General of Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office.
Prior to the sixth National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources meeting in November, it has been emphasized by the minister that resolving continuous conflicts among mining corporations within the state is essential.
The importance of a tranquil and stable setting in drawing and preserving investments within the solid minerals industry was noted by him. He expressed faith in Nasarawa State’s potential to organize a prosperous gathering as it plays an essential role in Nigeria’s mining scene.

According to Alake, the Council for Mining and Mineral Resources Development was established by the Federal Executive Council as a key forum where all stakeholders in the mining sector can interact with the ministry.
Alake clarified that the scheduled November gathering will be divided into two portions, one technical and the other executive. This organization would facilitate thorough discussions focused on propelling forward both mining and mineral resource industries.
The governor of Nasarawa State, Sule, conveyed his appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development for picking their state as the venue for hosting the National Council gathering.
In addition, he praised the ministry’s endeavors to resolve conflicts between a pair of mining corporations and the government at large.
Drawing attention to the untapped mineral deposits in Kokona and Keana local government areas, the governor urged the federal government to explore these resources.
Nasarawa State’s Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Yakubu Kwanta, extended a warm welcome to the minister and his team. He affirmed that the state government is fully dedicated to supporting federal endeavors geared towards bolstering both mining as well as mineral resources sectors.
A letter outlining particular suggestions for resolving disputes among mining companies, informed by a committee’s discoveries was also presented by the federal representatives.
